Honor MagicBook 15 Review

Design and chassis

Honor Mogicbook 15 is way ahead in design language in compression with others the laptop is made of aluminum chassis it gives a premium feel as other laptops under 50k comes with a plastic body apart from Mi Notebook that I will be reviewing soon. MagicBook 15 weighs only 1.53kg and is only 16.9mm thick at the thickest point of the laptop it makes it very convenient for travelers. In aesthetics, the laptop kills the competition with minimal branding, metallic silver color with azure blue chamfer you have to see it in person to experience. On the left side, you will find 1 x USB Type C for faster data transfer and the best part is it is used for charging so don’t need to carry an extra charger for other gadgets as almost all the new gadgets are now cumming with USB Type C.

Processing power and I/O

Under the hood, the Honor MagicBook 15 is truly a beast, We are looking at AMD Ryzen 5 3500U Quad-Core 2.1GHz with Turbo Boost Upto 3.7 GHz with 8 GB DDR4 RAM. You also get AMD Radeon Vega 8 graphics. In terms of storage, there is only 1 option for a 256GB PCIe SSD storage variant.

Honor MagicBook 15 I/O

In the port selection. There is a USB Type-A port on either side with a USB Type-C port and a headphone jack on the right side (Type-C port and 1 Type-A is USB 3 so enjoy the fast data transfer). You might need USB dongle adaptors so that you get access to an SD-card reader and maybe even an Ethernet port. The laptop comes with a faster wifi card and supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz for faster internet.

Display

One of the most special features of the Honor MagicBook 15 is that it comes with a 15.6-inch (39.62 cm) anti-glare Full HD IPS Display (16:9 Aspect Ratio, 178 Degree Viewing Angle, 87% Screen-to-body Ratio). What this means is that you will enjoy consuming Netflix on it thanks to its sharp and relatively bezel-less display. Furthermore, the audio experience is also good thanks to dual speakers.

Keyboard and Trackpad

The keyboard itself is a joy to use but the key travel is less some people wouldn’t like this. I found myself making fewer mistakes and typing faster, It is excellent once you get used to it, the laptop comes with dedicated function keys right above the trackpad, sadly backlighting is not present. The talking trackpad is very good and comes with windows precision drivers trackpad is quite large and a breeze to use click gives good feedback too.

Honor MagicBook 15 Keyboard

Webcam

The laptop comes with a pop-up camera that is fitted in the keyboard it is good for skype calls and attending online classes but the camera angle not that good the other person will find it a little weird.

Battery

Honor MagicBook 15 could be good for students as it can give 5 to 6 hours battery life on mixed usage on a single charge the laptop is backed by 3 cell battery and 65W charger. The laptop charges 50% in 30 minutes and it’s awesome. If you like to watch Netflix and Amazon Prime you can binge-watch for longer hours without worrying about the battery.

Verdict

The Honor MagicBook hits almost all the check box to be a good budget laptop for students and travelers Ryzen 5 is way more power full to full you daily needs with AMD Radeon Vega 8 you can play games with good framerates. If you are someone like me who likes to stream on Netflix and Prime Video you will love the laptop from my side it is one of the best laptops under 5000 in India.
